We are back on our normal schedule after the COVID uncertainty last week. The lines were released late because the Tennesee Titans (Houston's Week 6 opponent) didn't play until Tuesday night. This week we're back on track with our weekly publishings!
Last week's bet of the over in the Texans-Titan matchup hit easily (by the third quarter), so we're officially on a roll!
Looking forward to Green Bay Packers in Week 7
This week Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans are hosting the Green Bay Packers, who are coming off an uncharacteristically flat game against the Tampa BayBuccaneers. Tuesday's spread is fluctuating between +3.5 and +4 (Texans to win or lose by as many as 4 points to win the bet).
Like last week’s line against Tennessee, this week's line seems to be influenced by the Texans' opponents’ most recent game (Packers losing 38-10 to the Bucs).
In my opinion, the line should be around +6 or +6.5, and it will wind up there. So, if you're going to bet the Texans spread, you might as well wait until the spread loosens up to give yourself a little more breathing room. But generally, I'm going to stay away from the Houston side this week.
In addition to the Texans just being too inconsistent (especially on defense), I don't like betting against Aaron Rodgers losing two consecutive games. For his career, Aaron Rodgers is 30-15 against the spread after a loss. In short, stay away from the spread.
But, I like the over again this week (56 points). Houston has scored 24.8 points on average and has allowed 30.8 points for 55.6 total points on average for games this year. Green Bay has scored 32.4 points on average and has allowed 27.8 points or 60.2 total points per game. Two potent offenses, with two mediocre-to-bad defenses and even a relatively high over 56, still feels pretty good.
