Taking a closer look at the Houston Texans over and under odds as they face the undefeated Tennessee Titans in Week 6.
Houston Texans: Week 6 Bets versus Tennessee Titans
Kyle Rose
Greetings, Houston Texans fans, and welcome to our weekly Texans Bets!
That's about all the enthusiasm we can muster right now, given our Over bet crashed and burned in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But, we take a deep breath and pull our problem-gambling egos off the ground and get right back on that horse:
A quick apology for the late post, the line for this week's game wasn't posted until after the Tennesee Titans- Buffalo Bills game on Tuesday. And, likely due to COVID-19 rearing it's crowned head, player props have yet to be posted until later this week.
This week, we see the Houston Texans and their rival AFC South team Titans square off for an important divisional game. The line is Texans +3.5, and we don't love it for Houston, which appears to be getting a benefit from their win against a weak Jacksonville team. The line started at +5.5, which is a little more reasonable but is squarely in the Vegas Zone (reference week #4 podcast).
The Texans and Titans have been horrible against the spread so far this season, 1-4 for Houston and 1-3 for Tennessee. Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans offense showed significant improvement last week, delivering season highs for passing yards (357), rushing yards (129), and points, but this could be a tough matchup against an undefeated Titans (at Tennessee) team that just demolished Buffalo 42-16. So we're recommending you stay away from the spread of this game.
That leaves us pondering the Over/Under 52.5. Overs have hit in 3 of 5 Houston games and 3 of 4 Tennessee games this season. In fact, Tennessee's last three games have all exceeded 60 total pts (63, 61, 63). Houston has scored 22 pts on average and Tennessee 30.5 pts on average this season for a total of 52.5.
Houston has allowed 28.0 pts on average and Tennessee 23.8 pts on average this season for a total of 51.8. This line has come down from a starting point of 55, so we're more comfortable taking the over at this level.
Bet: $50 on the Over 52.5 (-105); returns $97.62
